Boat Company’s function is to secure beaches, conduct raids, and pull critical information to facilitate further actions or follow-on operations while utilizing small boats. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the USS America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations, the U.S. Navy’s largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region. U.S. Marines with Kilo Company, Battalion Landing Team, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), conduct a boat raid with Combat Rubber Raiding Crafts at Kin Blue, Okinawa, Japan, Dec. 7, 2020. The Marines of Kilo Company conducted small boat raids in preparation for follow-on exercises. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region. In this episode, follow U.S. Marines with Company F, Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion 4th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and soldiers from the Japan Ground Self Defense Force as they conduct boat operations as part of the Japanese Observer Exchange Program. The JGSDF was integrated with the 31st MEU in order to better understand amphibious operations.

Soldiers with the Japan Ground Self Defense Force (JGSDF) and U.S. Marines with Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines (BLT 3/5), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (31st MEU) conduct small boat operations as part of the Japan Observer Exchange Program (JOEP) at Kin, Okinawa, Japan. Marines and Sailors of Company B., Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, conduct a boat raid alongside their Royal Thai Marine counterparts using combat rubber raiding craft. The bilateral force moves through the jungle to assault a nearby target. Also available in High Definition.

Including nearly every element of Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit conducted a coordinated raid on various locations on and around Camp Hansen. Marines and Sailors with Company A, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, execute an assault on Kin Blue training area, Okinawa, Japan, using combat rubber raiding craft. As the MEU’s Boat Company, this training prepares the unit for real-time objectives it may face in upcoming regional security operations. The unit approaches from approximately one mile off the coast, quickly moving to shore in order to eliminate hostile forces (Marine role-players) on the beach and further inland.
