U.S. Marines and Sailors with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) conducted training throughout the Indo-Pacific region while embarked upon ships of the America Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) during a deployment in the fall of 2020. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region. Marines with 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit participate in a historical battle site tour in Okinawa, Japan, Dec. 19, 2019. Marines toured Kakazu Ridge, Camp Kinser Battle of Okinawa Historical Display, Former Japanese Navy Underground Headquarters , and Okinawa Peace Memorial Park to learn about the Marine Corps’ actions in Okinawa during World War II, with the tour supported by the Marine Corps Association & Foundation. The battlefield study was part of MCA&F’s Commanders’ Forum Program which provides battlefield studies and guest speakers free of charge, to help Marines grow as tactical decision makers and leaders. U.S. Marines and sailors with Marine Medium Tilt-rotor Squadron (VMM-265) conduct flight operations off of the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD-6) in support of Exercise Ssang Yong 2014.
