In this episode, follow U.S. Marines with Company F, Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion 4th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and soldiers from the Japan Ground Self Defense Force as they conduct boat operations as part of the Japanese Observer Exchange Program. The JGSDF was integrated with the 31st MEU in order to better understand amphibious operations.

Marines and Sailors with 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit conduct the first event of Cobra Gold 2012, a small boat raid using combat rubber raiding craft. The raid was conducted by Alpha Company, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, alongside Royal Thai Marines. Marines and Sailors with Company A, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, execute an assault on Kin Blue training area, Okinawa, Japan, using combat rubber raiding craft. As the MEU’s Boat Company, this training prepares the unit for real-time objectives it may face in upcoming regional security operations. The unit approaches from approximately one mile off the coast, quickly moving to shore in order to eliminate hostile forces (Marine role-players) on the beach and further inland.
