U.S. Marines with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) participate in MEU Exercise (MEUEX) on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Dec. 18, 2020. The purpose of MEUEX is to build a well-established team and build upon existing practices to ensure readiness for follow-on exercises and operations. In this episode, follow U.S. Marines with Company F, Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion 4th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and soldiers from the Japan Ground Self Defense Force as they conduct boat operations as part of the Japanese Observer Exchange Program. The JGSDF was integrated with the 31st MEU in order to better understand amphibious operations.

Marines and Sailors of Company B., Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, conduct a boat raid alongside their Royal Thai Marine counterparts using combat rubber raiding craft. The bilateral force moves through the jungle to assault a nearby target. Also available in High Definition.

Including nearly every element of Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit conducted a coordinated raid on various locations on and around Camp Hansen. Marines and Sailors with Company A, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, execute an assault on Kin Blue training area, Okinawa, Japan, using combat rubber raiding craft. As the MEU’s Boat Company, this training prepares the unit for real-time objectives it may face in upcoming regional security operations. The unit approaches from approximately one mile off the coast, quickly moving to shore in order to eliminate hostile forces (Marine role-players) on the beach and further inland.
