Marines with Bravo Company, Battalion Landing Team 1/4, joined members of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force at Camp Ainoura near Nagasaki April 29 for a week long subject matter expert exchange with the Amphibious Rapid Deployment Brigade.
The ARDB stood-up as the JGSDF's "crisis-response" force in 2018. The exchange marks the one year anniversary celebration of the ARDB.
during the weeklong subject matter experts exchange, the Marines and ARDB members worked side-by-side to share information and tactics at the end of the week, both units partnered in a demonstration at Camp Ainoura.
BLT 1/4 is the Ground Combat Element for the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit in Okinawa, Japan - Marines with the BLT 1/4 are experts at infantry and combined-arm tactics.
The ARDB's leaders have worked closely with the 31st MEU since its founding to develop amphibious capabilities similar to a U.S. Marine Expeditionary Unit, including several exchange in Okinawa and Mainland Japan.
