A Marine with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit grabs a 30-pound ammunition can during a Combat Fitness Test at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Nov. 28, 2017. A CFT is used to test a Marine’s combat readiness and is composed of an 880-yard sprint, 30-pound ammunition can lift, and a 300-yard endurance course. The 31st MEU provides a flexible force ready to perform a wide range of military operations, from limited combat to humanitarian assistance, throughout the Indo-Asia-Pacific region as the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU.
