Downing, Scout Sniper platoon commander for Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, and a native of San Diego, Calif., reacts after being shot with an X26 Taser during a non-lethal demonstration here, Oct. 25. The Marines completed a non-lethal weapons course provided by 3rd Law Enforcement Battalion, Marine Corps base Camp Hansen, that included Taser and pepper spray (Oleoresin Capsicum) training. The 31st MEU is the Marine Corps’ force in readiness in the Asia-Pacific region and the only continuously forward-deployed MEU.
