A Marine with Company E., Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, lays inside a freshly-dug fighting hole as part of a combat endurance test here, Oct. 10. The two-day test was performed across the base and evaluated a multitude of field skills and knowledge in a relay race competition. The Marines were tested on skills including: making range cards, gas mask drills, weapon assembly and disassembly and combat lifesaving procedures. The 31st MEU is the Marine Corps’ force in readiness in the Asia-Pacific region and the only continuously forward-deployed MEU.
