William Arick (right), commanding officer of Combat Logistics Battalion 31, 31st MEU, speak with a local town mayor to understand the needs of people during a humanitarian aid and disaster relief exercise here, Mar. 10. Gunnery Sgt. Cyrus Nator, the assistant operations chief of the 31st MEU, translates in Tagalog to the mayor. The 31st MEU is currently conducting their certification exercise, which is conducted with the Amphibious Squadron 11, and qualifies the MEU/ARG team for a wide range of actual contingency missions in the Asia-Pacific region. The 31st MEU is the United States’ expeditionary force in readiness in the Asia-Pacific region, and is currently deployed with Amphibious Squadron 11.
