U.S. Marines in riot gear with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit keep a watchful eye on proceedings during a multi-lateral non-combatant evacuation operation exercise, as the flags of the United States, the Kingdom of Thailand, and Japan wave behind them, Feb 12. The NEO exercise, held during Cobra Gold 2011, brought together the U.S., Thai, and Japanese armed forces in order to exchange ideas and prepare for potential evacuations involving their citizens in foreign countries.
