Marines with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, exit an amphibious assault vehicle and move into position during a amphibious landing exercise Feb. 10. The amphibious landing, a multi-lateral exercise including Republic of Korea, Kingdom of Thailand, and U.S. Marines and Sailors, took place during exercise Cobra Gold 2011. Cobra Gold 2011 improves participating nations’ ability to conduct relevant and dynamic training, while strengthening relationships between the militaries and local communities. For three decades, Thailand has hosted Cobra Gold, one of the largest land-based, joint, combined military exercises in the world.
