Marines and sailors from the forward-deployed Essex Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) load equipment onto the amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2), Jan. 22. More than 170 vehicles and 450 tons of equipment from the 31st MEU were embarked aboard the forward-deployed Essex Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) in support of the Spring Patrol. The MEU’s first scheduled exercise is Cobra Gold 2010 (CG’ 10). CG’ 10 is a regularly scheduled joint and coalition multinational exercise hosted annually by the Kingdom of Thailand.
