Petty Officer 3rd Class Andrew Saslow, a beachmaster with the forward-deployed Essex Amphibious Group (ARG), provides hand and arm signals to guide a 7-ton onto a landing craft air cushion (LCAC), Jan. 22. More than 170 vehicles and 450 tons of equipment from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) were embarked aboard the forward-deployed Essex ARG in support of the Spring Patrol. The MEU’s first scheduled exercise is Cobra Gold 2010 (CG’ 10). CG’ 10 is the latest in a continuing series of exercises designed to promote regional peace and security.
