Vehicles from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), are staged for loading onto a landing craft air cushion (LCAC) during the MEU’s embark period, Jan. 22. More than 170 vehicles and 450 tons of equipment from the MEU were loaded aboard the forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2), the forward-deployed transport dock ship USS Denver (LPD 9) and the forward-deployed dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49). The MEU is scheduled to support Exercise Cobra Gold 2010 (CG ’10) as part of the Spring Patrol. CG’ 10 is a regularly scheduled joint and coalition multinational exercise hosted annually by the Kingdom of Thailand.
