Thrift Shop volunteers recognized by Wing Commander

Col. Timothy Tarchick, 94 AW commander, stopped at the Dobbin's Thrift Shop in August to thank the volunteers who keep the Shop running each week. Colonel Tarchick presented everyone with a certificate of appreciation and wing coin.

"The Thrift Shop does much to support the base, but often does not get any recognition for the support given," said Colonel Tarchick.

The Thrift Shop contributes about $10,000 each year from the sale of items to help Dobbins and the local community. Since its opening 27 year ago, Nancy Black , the manager and Val Barton, have seen it through many things including a move to its present location near the Recycling Center and Services Recreation Supply and Rental Center bldg.

If you are cleaning out your closets and have items that you want to donate, please consider the Thrift Shop. There is no limited on the number of items that can be donated and a receipt for taxes can be obtained. Besides donations they also do consignments with 20 percent going to the Thrift Shop and 80percent being returned to you.

You would be surprised what kind of treasures you might find there and new treasures come in each week. The Thrift Shop is open every Thursday and UTA Saturday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, although you will probably find Nancy and her husband Stan there much earlier than that as they get the place ready for the day, so if the door is unlocked...."come on in!"
