U.S. Navy Sailor Petty Officer 2nd Class Kristin Cove, a field medical technician with 3rd Medical Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, hoists a simulated casualty onto a UH-1Y Venom helicopter assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 265 (Rein.), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, during a casualty evacuation exercise on Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, Okinawa, Japan, May 21, 2025. Marines and Sailors conducted ground and air hoist guidance and tactical combat casualty care techniques in rural terrain scenarios. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force, ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premiere crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
