U.S. Marines with Maritime Raid Force, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, fast-rope from a U.S. Air Force HH-60 Pave Hawk assigned to 33rd Rescue Squadron, 18th Wing, during alternate insertion and extraction training on Landing Zone Swallow at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, April 16, 2025. The Marines conducted day and night alternate insertion and extraction training on land to enhance and sustain their ability to quickly insert onto a moving vessel. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premiere crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
