U.S. Marines with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 262 (Rein.), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, unload a UH-1Y Venom helicopter during a joint-strike dry-fire rehearsal aboard the amphibious transport dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20), in the Java Sea, Aug. 30, 2024. The rehearsal was conducted to strengthen proficiency, communication and cooperation between different branches and militaries before executing a joint live-fire strike exercise. Super Garuda Shield is an annual exercise that has significantly grown in scope and size since 2009. Super Garuda Shield 2024 is the third consecutive time this exercise has grown into a combined and joint event, focused on commitment to partnership and a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.
