KADENA AIR BASE, OKINAWA, Japan (November 14, 2017) – A Marine with Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, prepares to exit an airplane after arriving at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan, Nov. 14, 2017. BLT 1/1, garrisoned at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, is the incoming Ground Combat Element of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. The 31st MEU provides a flexible force ready to perform a wide range of military operations, from limited combat to humanitarian assistance, throughout the Indo-Asia-Pacific region as the Marine Corps' only continuously forward-deployed MEU.
