A Marine with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 (Reinforced) sits atop the rear exit ramp of an MV-22B Osprey tiltrotor aircraft while flying above the Shoalwater Bay Training Area, Queensland, Australia, Aug. 22, 2017. VMM-265 (Rein.) is part of the Aviation Combat Element of the 31st MEU. The 31st MEU spent the past month in the Shoalwater Bay area, taking part in the multi-national Exercise Talisman Saber 17, and the 31st MEU’s and USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) Expeditionary Strike Group’s Amphibious Integration Training and Certification Exercise. The 31st MEU partners with the Navy’s Amphibious Squadron 11 to form the amphibious component of the BHR ESG. The 31st MEU and PHIBRON 11 combine to provide a cohesive blue-green team capable of accomplishing a variety of missions across the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
