An amphibious assault vehicle with Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, maneuvers into the well deck of the USS Ashland (LSD-48) during a splash and recovery exercise, Feb. 27. The 31st MEU recently embarked upon the three ships of the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD-6) Amphibious Ready Group for the regularly-scheduled Spring Patrol. The 31st MEU is the Marine Corps’ force of choice for the Asia-Pacific region and is the only continuously forward-deployed MEU.
