Lance Cpl. Royce Montgomery, a rifleman with Company E., Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, and a native of Dryden, Va., tosses a simulation grenade at a target as the rest of his fire team provides simulated covering fire during a combat endurance test here, Oct. 10. The two-day test was performed across the base and evaluated a multitude of field skills and knowledge in a relay race competition. The Marines were tested on skills including: range card making, gas mask drills, weapon assembly and disassembly and combat lifesaving procedures.
