Philippine Marine Corps Martial Arts master instructor Sgt. Eddy Mendoza demonstrates takedown techniques to the U.S. Marines and sailors with Company B., Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, as a part of exercise Balikatan 2013 in Ternate, Philippines, April 10. As treaty allies, the Armed Forces of the Philippines and U.S. military have a longstanding relationship that has contributed to regional security and stability. The 31st MEU is the only continuously forward-deployed MEU and is the Marine Corps’ force in readiness in the Asia-Pacific region.
