Lance Cpl. Cody G. Underwood, a Shoulder-Launched, Multipurpose Assault Weapon (SMAW) gunner with Company C., Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, and a native of Albia, Iowa, climbs the side of a building to provide security during a helicopter raid here, March 9. The helicopter raid was the final event of the 31st MEU’s Amphibious Integration Training, where the Marines embarked with Amphibious Squadron 11 sharpened their skills while operating from Navy vessels. The 31st MEU is the only continuously forward-deployed MEU and is the Marine Corps’ force in readiness in the Asia-Pacific region.
