1st Lt. Michael Morehead, executive officer of Company B., Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit conducts a mission briefing with members of the Royal Thai Marines prior to launching combat rubber raiding crafts (CRRC) from the well deck of the Whidbey Island-class amphibious dock landing ship USS Tortuga (LSD 46). The bilateral force conducted a boat raid as part of exercise Cobra Gold 2013. Cobra Gold is an annual exercise that includes numerous multilateral events ranging from amphibious assaults to non-combatant evacuation operations. The training aims to improve interoperability between the United States, the Kingdom of Thailand, and many other participating countries.
