Amphibious Assault Vehicles with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit climb up the beach while discharging a smoke screen in support of U.S. and Royal Thai Marines during a mechanized raid here, Feb. 10. U.S. Marines of the 31st MEU and Royal Thai Marines conducted a bi-lateral raid as part of Exercise Cobra Gold 2012. CG12 demonstrates the resolve of the U.S. and participating nations to increase interoperability and increase security and peace throughout the Asia-Pacific region. The 31st MEU is the U.S.’s expeditionary force in readiness in the Asia-Pacific region.
