Royal Thai, Republic of Korea and U.S. Amphibious Assault Vehicles move toward the beach under cover of a smoke screen as CH-46E Sea Knight helicopters of Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 262, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing fly over head during an amphibious assault here, Feb. 10. U.S. Marines of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, Royal Thai and Republic of Korea Marines conducted the multi-lateral assault as part of Exercise Cobra Gold 2012. CG12 demonstrates the resolve of the U.S. and participating nations to increase interoperability and increase security and peace throughout the Asia-Pacific region. The 31st MEU is the U.S.’s expeditionary force in readiness in the Asia-Pacific region.
