Marines and Sailors with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and the Essex Amphibious Ready Group swim in the ocean at the equator Nov. 25. Marines and Sailors aboard the ship enjoyed a barbeque on the flight deck, and had the opportunity to swim during the steel beach picnic. The 31st MEU is the only continuously forward-deployed MEU and remains the nation’s force in readiness in the Asia-Pacific region.
