Lance Cpl. Tom R. Potter, a team leader with Company G, Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, melts the end of a piece of 550 cord while preparing his gear, Oct. 14. Potter was preparing his gear for a mock amphibious raid conducted during the 31st MEU’s certification exercise. The 31st MEU is the only continuously forward-deployed MEU and remains the nation’s force in readiness in the Asia-Pacific region.
