A Marine assigned to Marine Attack Squadron 542, currently attached under Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 262 (Reinforced), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, directs the pilot of an AV-8B Harrier jet preparing to take off from Clark Air Base in the Republic of the Philippines. VMA-542 and the 31st MEU are currently conducting bilateral training exercises in the Philippines with the goal of increasing cooperation between the armed services of both countries, ensuring the partner nations are always ready to respond when needed.
