U.S. Navy Cmdr. Angelina Violante, the executive officer for the amphibious transport dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20) and U.S. Marines with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, serve cake during a ceremony celebrating Women’s Equality Day, in the Philippine Sea, Aug. 24, 2024. USS Green Bay held the ceremony to commemorate the progress of women over the years and renew the commitment to advancing gender equity. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
