A CH-53E Super Stallion Helicopter attached to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 (Reinforced), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, sits on the flight deck shortly after sunset here, June 28. The Super Stallion is a heavy-lift helicopter and is designed to transport assault forces, heavy equipment and supplies during ship to shore movement. The Super Stallion can fly 172 mph, is capable of lifting 16 tons and plays a pivotal role in the 31st MEU’s wide spectrum of capabilities. The 31st MEU is the only continuously forward-deployed MEU and is the Marine Corps force in readiness in the Asia-Pacific region.
