Sgt. Matthew Sullivan, senior intelligence analyst with Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, prepares a RQ-11B Raven, an unmanned aerial vehicle, for flight here, July 4. This is the first time the Raven UAV system was flown in the Pacific Command area. The UAV is being utilized in support of Exercise Hamel 2012, a multi-national training evolution between the U.S. Marine Corps, Australian Army and New Zealand Army. The 31st MEU is the only continuously forward-deployed MEU and is the nation’s force in readiness in the Asia-Pacific region.
