Major Sunny M. Montas, the staff judge advocate of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, and native of Union, N.J., gives a speech as the key note speaker during a ceremony to recognize woman’s history month, March 24. The presentation explained the progressive role women play in the military, as well as how the view of women has changed over the past decades. During the presentation, female Marines and Sailors talked about their experiences, read a poem about life in the military as a woman, and read the biography of Lt. Gen. Carol A. Mutter, the first female to achieve the rank of lieutenant general in the Marine Corps.
