CAMP HANSEN, Okinawa, Japan -- "Marines, Sailors, Families, and friends of the 31st MEU,
Tomorrow, 10 November, marks the 237th Birthday for our beloved Corps. From our humble beginnings in Tun Tavern, Pa, to becoming our Nation's elite fighting force, Marines have consistently distinguished themselves on the battlefield and in the community by exemplifying our core values of honor, courage, and commitment. From combat operations to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations, the Marine Corps continues set the standards for military discipline, mission accomplishment, and flexibility throughout the world. This discipline, focus on mission accomplishment, and flexibility is also a trademark of the 31st MEU, and as we pause to celebrate our Corps' birthday, I want everyone associated with the 31st MEU to know that your contributions ensure that we are the Marine Corps' premier force in readiness for the Asia-Pacific region!
Additionally, with over 21 million military veterans in the U.S., Sunday, 11 November, is a day dedicated to anyone who has taken the oath of military service in the defense of our Nation. This Veteran's Day, I hope you have the opportunity to pause and reflect on the selfless service of so many American patriots, and just as importantly, to thank the families who have also served and sacrificed throughout the years.
I want to thank each and every one of you for your service and sacrifice for our Nation, the Marine Corps, and the 31st MEU. Enjoy your birthday and holiday weekend, stay safe, and Semper Fidelis!"
